The Parish Council and Chester-le-Street Area Action Partnership supports, but does not own, our local community and its shared resources. Unfortunately we weren’t able to save the Brooms Community Rooms which weere demolished in December 2010, but please help us support Ouston Community Centre so it can remain a thriving hub of the village.

Good causes distributor the Big Lottery Fund (BLF) has announced that it is making an additional £75m of funding available to revamp and update community buildings through its Reaching Communities programme.
Local (parish and town) councils and voluntary and community organisations will be able to apply for capital grants of between £100,000 and £500,000 to help transform buildings such as village halls into community buildings that offer a range of activities for the whole community.
The fund, which will be available from early December, will be open to projects costing no more than £750,000.
The good causes distributor said that the launch of the dedicated capital funding stream followed a consultation last year that highlighted a high demand for community buildings.
Reaching Communities has awarded over £455m of lottery money to almost 2,000 communities across England since 2006, according to the BLF.
